What were conditions like on their journeys to America?
Conditions on the journey to America were much better than the Irish's. This was due to the fact that many Germans were significantly wealthier than the Irish. They could afford first and second class tickets on boats to America. Another reason traveling was much safer was that the German government created new laws on the safety of steamships, leading to less deaths on their journeys.
